When choosing a time for your broadcast, think about when your target audience will be most receptive. DO NOT send your messages at unsociable hours – you would not get a good response. Always ensure you have the permission of the person you are sending messages to – this is called the Opt-in. Unsolicited texts with non targeted messages are likely lead to complaints.
The Text Works gives you the mechanism for people to respond to advertising by texting a keyword to a short code. Examples of such campaigns include competitions, voting, and sending pictures. This allows you to build your mobile database of users and create lists to send your promotional messages. Use the list builder in The Text Works top create your number lists before progressing to the Broadcast tool to send.
A WAP push is a specially encoded SMS containing a link to a WAP site. On receiving a WAP Push, a WAP 1.2 or later enabled handset will automatically give the user the option to access the WAP content. On most modern handsets, a link to a WEB or WAP site can simply be written into the normal SMS in the format http://www.TheTextworks.com
The same option is available when sending a broadcast message to a customer.
The two know handsets which currently do not support WAP push messages are the Blackberry Perl and the Apple IPhone. These handsets will simply not receive a message when the WAP push response is used in a campaign or broadcast.

In general the guidelines state that you must have the opt in from the customer before sending any form of marketing message via SMS. Usefully, this can be included in the terms and conditions on when purchasing a product.
The Text Works gives you use of our dedicated 87474 shot code. In order to differentiate between campaigns on this short code we use Keywords. The Keywords are used at the beginning of the text from your customer and help identify incoming messages for your campaigns.
Invoices are automatically sent to you 10 days prior to your next billing date. If you wish to cancel your service you should do so during these 10 days. You will be billed automatically following this period for the following 90 days rental.
By clicking on the statistics tab within the Text Works interface, you will be able to see all the statistical information about any of your campaigns. Within the table, we measure free messages sent, and the quantity of the free messages delivered.
If a customer's phone is switched off, out of signal range, or out of credit, there can be a delay when delivering messages. This in turn causes a delay in the delivery receipts which will be reflected in the statistics.
For both 2-way and broadcast messaging its possible to change the originator of the message. This is shown on the receiving phone as the FROM field.
The current maximum is 160 characters although we plan to roll out multi-part messages towards the end of 2009.
