Attract new candidates
An agency was looking for a range of new candidates to put forward for positions. They had a large database of candidates, some of which had already been placed in positions. They now sent out broadcast messages if they are looking for someone to fill a specific role asking people who have registered with them to refer a friend who might be suitable. They offer a £100 reward to anyone who refers a friend who is successfully placed. So far they have filled over 30 positions using these referred candidates. For a cost of £3000 they have bought in over £60,000 worth of business.

Inform suitable candidates of new positions
A chain of employment agencies profile all their candidates as they register, breaking them down into categories such as desired wage, industry and the area they want to work in. As soon as a new position comes on board they are able to automatically send out the details of the position asking the candidates to text back the word YES if they are interested and want a call back immediately, or YES followed by a time for a call if they are unable to talk at that time. As The Txt Works reports in real time as soon as a candidate texts YES the consultants can call back immediately. It's a great way to communicate with candidates, eliminating wasted calls on candidates who aren't interested, and reaching them by text faster than other agencies will reach them by phone.

Keeping databases up to date
A smaller agency was looking for ways to reduce the time wasted on calling candidates that were no longer looking for jobs. They now send a monthly message asking candidates to opt out of receiving messages if they are no longer actively seeking employment. They now have clean current databases, which makes the day to day running of the agency smoother.

Temping agencies
A temp agency was aware they needed to increase their response rate when new temping positions came through. They asked the temps as they registered if they would be happy to receive a message as early as 7am. They have around a 96% take up on this, as the temps aren’t bothered by the non invasive nature of a text. As soon as the temps wake up they are greeted by notification of that days work, with a prompt to call in. This will often be backed up by phone calls if needed although in most cases the text messages will have gathered enough response.
The same agency has set up a text response for employers, asking them to text the details of the position or text for a call back. This operates well out of office hours, all details can be forwarded to an office mobile ensuring contact around the clock. This can then be tied to a broadcast to temps, guaranteeing exceptionally fast response and informing temp the evening before in many cases, rather than the morning of a position.

Increasing the effectiveness of advertising
An employment agency were spending an increasing amount on advertising and were competing with larger employment agencies with larger adverts. To increase the number of suitable candidates they attached a general text for a call back for anyone looking for office and admin work, and individual text response codes for specific positions. They are then able to call back candidates, knowing what positions are of interest. They receive positive feedback from employers who have seen this method of gathering candidates as proactive and innovative.
